Why Drift Matters
Drifts do not currently give bonus cash but they create time-attack showings and gather YouTube views. ScriptJ and ImSincero both feature Shift handbrake drifts as a signature mechanic.
Pick the Right Car
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo and BMW M2 (Adro) are the best drift chassis by community consensus. The A12 Largo (840 HP, low grip) will spin out if you slam Shift at speed - back off entry speed. Tool #5 estimates a composite drift score.
Angle, Duration, Speed
A clean handbrake drift: 30-45 degree angle, 3-5 seconds duration, 130-160 km/h entry speed. Lower grip = easier to hold drift but harder to control. Higher grip = more friction, narrower drift, harder scoring.
Combo Windows
Every 3 sustained seconds = +0.25 combo, capped at 3.0x. Use traffic proximity to bank a combo without crashing. Avoid cars - even soft ones reset the combo.
Time-Trial Pacing
Drift at ~30% of the race length. Above 50% drift proportion, your finish time suffers. Tool #5 will project a 5km finish time and flip the suggestion to straight-line when that happens.
